Hey guys, hope you had a great weekend! If you're from Ontario, you might be enjoying Family Day like we will be... Let's hope no one in our house gets sick :D
I'm hoping that the dynamic between the two of them is coming off alright. Thomas and Robert had a very peculiar attitude towards each other... I like the fact that John is filling in for Thomas and giving an idea what that's about, instead of just showing Thomas and Robert back beforehand...
Thisguy says:
"wont you please just leave me alone? Please?"
"Wish I could my noble friend, but Alas, I cannot"
"WHY? Why can't you?"
"Boredom, mostly"
Cale'Anon the Elf and Richard the Undead Warlock form page 3 of the webcomic 'Looking For Group' Classic line, as is the one here, boredome can be used as an excuse for the most henious crimes, so long as you dont mind being labled "Evil"
svzurich says:
I wonder if True Enlightenment was some sort of hallucinogenic rush from constant knowledge flowing in as his infected creations ate people. Instead of being truly enlightened, maybe the constant growth in his knowledge gave him a constant high that faded as the "nourishing meals" did.
aok666 says:
Now I know what my excuse for talking in lectures will be for the next week! :-D (Already drove Dr Li to hysterics by constantly adding "...and your leg falls off" to everything she said about Deep Vein Thrombosis.)
L says:
I've heard many a reason to start an insurrection: Freedom, God, nationalism, economic prosperity, but this might be the first time "I did it for the lulz!" comes up.
sp4depir4te says:
scary part is i have heard "that actually makes sense to me." sooo many times when i would explain my train of thought to my friends...
asheswillfall says:
I too am curious about the loss of true enlightenment. Also though Robert must know that something's up, he felt it when Thomas was turned into a zombie. You kinda notice those things when there's no humans left then suddenly you feel slightly smarter after a human brain was ingested.
T.Gatto says:
"True Enlightenment" how the Hell do you lose something like that, it's not like car keys, or the water bill! Geeze Robert, get with it!?!
I'm telling you, let 1 stolen monitor go un-replaced, and it will all go to pot fast.
Magravan says:
@MatthewJA - That's barely a comment ;P
@Condettori - That's what I was thinking :D
@CarlRedifi - Robert kind of startled him with that reaction :)
@Thisguy - Well, John got labelled a crazy bastard... Not sure which is preferably, really.
@Nightsky - But it's not much of a leg to stand an argument on... You're not going to have someone respect your position because you did it out of boredom.
@Sleel - That's what I was hoping people would say :D
@svzurich - Cooould be. I may or may not have mentioned what he was referring to in the past where you guys can see. I'm pretty sure June knows what it means.
@aok666 - Haha... I had something similar during a training course of mine where I became the go-to guy when the instructor wanted someone to say "And then you get fired."
"If you give out someone's private information without their permission, you're breaking privacy laws and then...." *points to me* ;)
@L - The saddest part is that Robert accepted it as a valid motivation :D
@Muchacho NL - I'm glad someone caught onto that ;)
@sp4depir4te - Yeah, I get that sometimes too... My train of thought wasn't always apparent, but when I take someone along for the trip, it usually makes a lot more sense :)
@alex - Probably not the best answer, but Robert seems to have accepted it :)
@asheswillfall - That'll be something that gets explained a bit better in a future strip.
@T.Gatto - You just can't trust some people with things like that. Maybe if they'd given it to RZ to hold onto...
aok666 says:
Wish it had been like that with Dr Li - she just laughed and went "Nooo nooo, de leg is not going to fall off by itself, the doctor must operate... you cannot say to de patient 'Your leg is going to fall off', dey will PANIC... enough you naughty boy - er, naughty girl!..." (I have three-foot-long plaited hair and was wearing a pink jacket - I'm not exactly androgynous!) Sadly I can't really render her voice properly on here - think overexcitable, chatty Asian doctor with a good sense of humour, currently trying not to have hysterics from sheer despair.
Feartheswans says:
Anytime I have ever been at my Brother's house, his Kids *Girl age 7 Boy age 3* tear their rooms apart leaving complete and utter devastation in their wakes. The answer that comes out of their mouths every time is. "But we were booooooooored!!!!!!!!" *Puppy Eyes from Hell, with Quivering lip of doom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*
Oh they're mild compared to me when I was around that age. My mother told me that I had just got done watching Mr. Wizard's World and it is the one where he made little miniature oil lamps from Yarn and Vegetable oil.( VIVA LA 80'S! *Cough* ) I systematically decided to make candle wicks out of the dining room rug by taking a pair of Nail Clippers to the Long ends. Oh did I get yelled at, of course my defiant response was "IF MR WIZARD CAN DO IT SO CAN I!!!!!!!!!!!" Well sufficed to say I didn't See Mr Wizard for a Month.
Sad thing is I wasn't even sorry, and still to this day I'm not sorry!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!
MarshmallowGherkin says:
Well, I am digging the interaction between John and Robert, so I'd say it's working.
Also, I just want to mark this occasion by saying this is the first time i've commented without at least skimming all the comments.
This is why I try to comment first, dammit!
This is the only webcomic (out of ~100) I've been keeping up with though, for the past month or so. And I'm doing a terrible job of it. T__T
model S says:
You're welcome mag. I'm not sure which is scarier that this would happen or that if and when it does I'll find it completely normal. And make a reference to togm.
Magravan says:
@Unka John - See, that's what I would have suggested, but he figured that his enlightenment would get dirty back there, and he would have no truck with sullied enlightenment.
Some people and their enlightenment, sheesh.
@the_brigand - Oh. Well.. Yeah actually, I guess you have a point there :) If not entirely her fault, she certainly didn't help the situation :)
